Here’s my story.

I started my first business when I was 17 as a high school senior in New Zealand.  We sewed and sold boxer shorts, cummerbunds, and bow ties to unsuspecting dads, uncles, brothers, and boyfriends. I confess I was (and still am) a terrible seamstress, but I managed to convince 19 of my classmates that starting a business with me was a great idea — and so “Below the Belt Boxer Shorts” was born. We ran the company for a full year before going our separate ways in college.  We had some amazing successes and, despite some colossal failures, we managed to make a handsome profit.  I left high school with a real entrepreneurial education and 3 valuable business lessons which have served me well ever since:

1) Make sure your production can be scaled up to meet demand or you’ll have angry, disappointed customers.

2) No matter how great your marketing looks, if it doesn’t actually result in sales it’s a monumental waste of money.

3) Some men like the flies on their boxer shorts sewn up.  Others like the breeze.  Don’t pretend you know your customer’s preference unless you’ve actually asked them!

Fast forward to today.

Today I run a highly successful private marketing consulting and copywriting business.  I’m a coach, speaker, and nearly-author (I’m co-authoring a book due out in early 2012 with business great, Brian Tracy).  My private clients range from Fortune 500 companies to self-made multi-millionaire entrepreneurs in industries as diverse as real estate, plastic surgery, financial services, architecture, construction, law, designer clothing, medical services, insurance …well, you get the picture.

I’m also the  parent of a little girl, two dogs, and a horse.  And, as you may have picked up already, I have a deep love of animals and strongly believe in giving back.
